Level 3/5 in our learning path24 written barsPractice reference: 56 bpmSuggested work: 10–20 minutes per passage

Arpeggios followed by repeated notes prepare you to keep Tárrega's melody even. Play bars 1–8 once; the repeat covers 9–24. The app's practice tempo is 56 quarter notes per minute; the source says Moderato con espressivo.

Skills to prepare

  • Arpeggios and repeated notes
  • m-a alternation
  • Sustained bass notes

Before learning the piece

  • App checkpoint: hold a bass note through a three-note arpeggio five times in a row without cutting it short. Practise this skill.
  • App checkpoint: alternate m-a eight times on one string, in three even, relaxed attempts. Practise this skill.

These checkpoints belong to our learning path. They do not set a deadline for your progress.

Tablature and fingerings

The six lines represent the strings, with high E at the top. Numbers show frets; 0 means an open string. The letters p, i, m and a indicate right-hand fingers.
